Our Staff - Chaplaincy Program

The LCS Chaplaincy Program is funded by the Tasmanian Government under the National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program. It aims to support the school community pastorally; dealing with emotional and spiritual care both in crisis situations and long term journeying with people who experience continuing struggles.

At Launceston Christian School, our Pastoral Counsellor Angela Curtis is available to all connected to the school community – staff, students and parents.

Angela is at school two full days a week; Monday and Tuesday, and can be contacted through the school office on 63272854 or by email curtisa@lcs.tas.edu.au.

Senior students are able contact Angela independently while Junior students usually are referred by their parent or teacher liaising with the parent. Generally Angela speaks with the parent initially in this situation before seeing the student. Angela has extensive experience as a teacher, parent and Chaplain. Her training includes ongoing in-service training while working also as a Workplace Chaplain and Counsellor.

Areas of assistance can include; Parenting issues, Grief and Bereavement, Relationship conflict, Communication breakdown, Critical incident response, Substance abuse and family difficulties. Where necessary or indicated the Pastoral Counsellor supports people who need further referral to specialist/ clinical services and works with the senior staff with reference to student behavioural and social learning difficulties.

Any feedback regarding the work of the Pastoral Counsellor is welcomed by the Principal.
